Spatial requirements
Distances between the food preparation area, storage, sink
and waste container, as well as the range and oven should generally be short
in order to minimize transport distances.
Work space for various persons
In L- or U-shaped layouts working areas must be located
600-800 mm from the corner. This ensures that 2 users can work comfortably
without getting in each other’s way.
Minimum space for utensils
There should be min. 400 mm of space on either side of the
area used for food preparation.
Ideal distances when preparing food for several persons
The ideal length of the workstation depends on how many
people the kitchen serves:
up to 2 persons: 800 mm
up to 4 persons: 1000 mm
up to 6 persons: 1200 mm
There may be several preparation areas in the kitchen, e.g.
in the form of extension and pull-out work tops.
